My name is Joe Gross and I live in Tampa, Florida. I’ve competed in triathlons for 7 years, prior to this I was a collegiate all-American swimmer and then a category 3 cyclist. Last year I won both the Olympic and Long Course National Championships in the Clydesdale division, setting the national record for Super Clydesdales in the Olympic distance. This year my focus is the long course Alp D’Huez triathlon in July and then the ITU World Championship Grand Final in Beijing on September 10 as a member of Team USA.

As a larger competitor, I must continually find nutritional and electrolyte supplements to aid in my training and recovery. In addition, the hot and humid climate of Florida often necessitate training rides and runs peaking into the early afternoon. Heat stroke and exhaustion are often just a water cooler away. Having experienced e21 earlier this season during a long, hot ride I became a convert as I noticed both an alertness at the ride’s conclusion and reduced fatigue later in the evening. Since then, I use e21 before, during, and after all my workouts; it’s inclusion in my regime makes a marked difference in my recovery for the next hard workout. If you are a heavy sweater and/or take multiple electrolyte supplements for your training and racing, ditch them for the simplicity and effectiveness e21 offers. These are in my bag every day and a requisite for race day preparation.

Thank you e21 for a product that truly works as advertised.

More Energy and Less Pain

Can you imagine how much more you could accomplish in a day if you had increased energy? Or, how much more enjoyment would there be in your day if you had more energy? They’re very easy questions to answer because they’re quite hyperthetical, but the real question is – just how do I go about achieving this and is it even possible? Well I’d like to tell you that YES, it is very possible, and you’ll be surprised just how simple the answer is!

You’ve probably read a little about the importance of balancing the alkaline and acidic aspects of your diet and it may come as no surprise to you when I tell you that the answer to your energy issues is intimately related to your cellular acid/alkaline balance. In case you’re not so familiar with what is alkaline or acidic, the vegetable matter (especially colourful vegies) and most fruit, provide you with your main alkaline resources and everything else provides you with varying degrees of acidity. All the other vegetarian based foods are less acidic than all the animal based foods, with of course the more processed (or tampered with) foods being more acidic.

What is it that actually makes a food more alkaline? Three factors influence the tendency of a food to be more alkaline. Firstly, the presence of colourful pigments – the most influential being chlorophyll (and also carotenes), secondly, and closely related to the first factor, the abundance of minerals and trace elements, and thirdly , the absence of high levels of organic acids such as amino acids and fatty acids.

You’ll be excited to know that mother nature has seen fit to create a food that provides us with all the above mentioned alkaline minerals, without those nasty acids. This incredible nutrient dense food is called Dunaliella salina. It’s a salt water microalgae, super rich in chlorophyll, a wreath of free-radical-destroying antioxidants and the full complement of 114 trace elements. I ‘ve got to tell you, this intensely concentrated (easily absorbed) superfood is just what the acidic, chemical-laden 21st century needs!

Now because of it’s profound alkalinity, dunaliella salina will have a dampening effect on the inflammatory process which will contribute greatly to possible pain relief, but coupled with a specific blend of other naturally derived compounds, the effects can be intensely magnified. Individually, most of the substances I am about to mention have a well documented, positive influence over inflammatory joint problems. A very important point I want to make here, is that once again, mother nature exerts and anchors the astounding effects of “synergism”. Simply explained, this is when the sum of the ingredients of a formula produce a measurably greater effect than any one individual ingredient alone does, in a higher dose.

When we mix together the anti-inflammatory and nutitional effects of Green Lipped Mussel extract, with the healing, joint rebuilding properties of Glucosamine and Chondroitin, the combined effect that’s realised is significantly greater than any of these well known compounds individually. As if that isn’t enough though, by simply combining a few simple nutritional cofactors into the mix, like vitamins C and E for their antioxdant and collagen promoting effects and B vitamins for their diuretic, energising and recovery – enhancing properties, the blend is further supercharged for optimal therapeutic effect.

So don’t despair if you’ve diligently taken any of these compounds separately and haven’t experienced your expected results, there is now a new generation joint health supplement available that combines all of these actives, taking the therapeutic result to a whole new level – of less pain.

Active Ingredients

Green lipped mussel extract

Green lipped mussel extract derived from green lipped mussels has been known by the indigenous peoples of New Zealand, the Maori, to have extraordinary anti-inflammatory properties. For those suffering from arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or other joint mobility conditions, green lipped mussel extract offers a natural alternative treatment.

Glucosamine sulphate

Glucosamine is a precursor for glycosaminoglycans (GAG), which are components of the proteoglycans in the cartilage matrix ground tissue. Glucosamine has been shown to stimulate the biosynthesis of proteoglycan.

Chondroitin

Chondroitin, like glucosamine, is a natural component of cartilage. Chondroitin is also involved in the lubrication and nutrition of the joint, and helps the joints to resist compression.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant and serves a role as a cofactor in the synthesis of collagen, the main protein in joint tissue and bone.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant vitamin that helps to neutralize potentially damaging free radicals in our body.

B Group Vitamins

Vitamin B6 is useful for lessening joint pain and decreasing the amount of time needed for a muscle and joint to recover from stress. Coaches regularly recommend Vitamin B6 to their athletes who suffer from joint pain. Vitamin B12 and Folic acid support healthy blood flow to the bones and joints.

Side Effects
Green Lipped Mussel is derived from shellfish. Caution should be exercised by people who are allergic to shellfish. It is advisable not to take green lipped mussel whilst pregnant or lactating. It you are unsure please consult with your doctor or health specialist.

Joint Health and Athletes

e21 Joint Health is the most effective joint and bone support product available to an athlete today.

e21 Joint Health will assist your training and recovery by helping to maintain joint health, joint mobility and flexibility.

e21 Joint Health takes a holistic approach to joint health combining a number of active ingredients such as Green Lipped Mussel, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Vitamin E, C, and the B group vitamins.

e21 Joint Health will protect against the pain, inflammation and strains associated with sports injuries.

Green lipped mussel extract, is a rich source of iron, betain and glycoaminoglycans (including chondroitin sulphate) and has gained a reputation as a natural product with anti-inflammatory properties.

It has been found in scientific studies to be a great natural option for ligament tears, sports related injuries, joint stiffness and pain. And it has precursors that aid in re-developing cartilage and connective tissues, and joint fluid production.

Athletes can achieve improved performance, pain relief and enhanced tissue repair without fear of side effects.

e21 Joint Health can assist in repairing joint and cartilage damage, tendons, ligaments and muscles.

Glucosamine is a natural substance produced by the body to help build and repair cartilage. Healthy joints ordinarily make their own glucosamine. It is the basic building block that joints use to make cartilage. BUT, as we exercise and get older we often do not produce enough glucosamine. Less glucosamine means less cartilage and less cushion for your joints.

But Glucosamine alone is not enough … we also need Chondroitin.

Chondroitin sulfate is part of a large protein molecule (proteoglycan) that gives cartilage elasticity.

Research has shown that the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin used together is more effective for joint support.

e21 Joint Health also includes two of the most powerful anti-oxidants, Vitamin E and Vitamin C, which are highly effective in quenching free radicals, the cause of the cell damage leading to the inflammation in the joints.

Vitamin C is not only a very powerful anti-oxidant but it is also a key component of collagen and connective tissue and is needed to make the glucosamine and chondroitin work most effectively.

During healing the cells in our body are constantly regenerating and they cannot do this without the essential B group vitamins … which are also included in this unique formulation.

e21 Joint Health is a complete Joint Health formula combining anti-inflammatory ingredients to reduce pain, the building blocks to repair joint cartilage and anti-oxidants to repair free radical damage when you train and compete.

Medical Advice—Warfarin

If you are prescribed Warfarin by your Doctor, we draw your attention to the following advice from Arthritis Australia:

“Glucosamine is widely used for the symptoms of osteoarthritis. Recent reports have suggested that it may interact with warfarin and thus make blood less likely to clot. The mechanism for this is uncertain. However, Arthritis Australia recommends that patients on warfarin who are starting or stopping glucosamine should have their INR (blood clotting) checked regularly for the first month. Patients who are on stable doses of both are unlikely to have problems.

1. What is e21 Joint Health?

e21 Joint Health is a new and unique formula combining the antiinflammatory properties of Green Lipped Mussel extract with Glucosamine Sulphate and Chondroitin Sulphate.

2. What will e21 Joint Health do for me?

e21 Joint Health contains all the essential vitamins and natural elements needed to support health joint function and reduce inflammation and related pain.

3. What are the benefits of e21 Joint Health?

e21 Joint Health is a comprehensive formula containing all the essential ingredients needed to assist in supporting the health of your joints. It uses a holistic approach to joint health combining a number of active ingredients, which may help:

Reduce joint pain

Increase range of movement

Reduce inflammation

Support collagen and cartilage synthesis

Reduce symptoms and assist in the management of arthritis

Support general joint health

4. What are the active ingredients in each capsule?

350mg Green Lipped Mussel

142.5mg Glucosamine sulphate

112.5mg Chondroitin sulphate

30mg Vitamin C

5mg Vitamin E

1mg Vitamin B6

50mcg Vitamin B12

100mcg Folic acid

5. What are Green Lipped Mussels?

The New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel (also known as Perna canaliculus) differs from other mussel species in that it has a dark brown/green shell, a green lip around the edge of the shells and only has one adductor muscle. It is also one of the largest mussel species reaching 240 mm in length.

6. How do they assist maintaining healthy joint function?

Green-lipped mussels contain a unique combination of fatty acids that are not found in any other marine or plant life. One of these polysaccharides, glycosaminoglycan, is purported to assist in the repair of damaged joint tissues. Studies have also found that Perna canaliculus inhibits the 5-lipoxygenase pathway, which leads to the formation of leukotrienes. Many of the products of
these pathways have inflammation-supporting properties.

7. Is e21 Joint Health a natural product?

Yes. In fact it is a food.

8. Does e21 Joint Health have any contra-indications?

The product is not known to have any contraindications. However, please discuss any concerns with your health professional if you are considering taking e21 Joint Health with existing medications.

9. What about Warfarin?

If you have been prescribed Warfarin, please check with your health professional before taking e21 Joint Health.

10. What if I am allergic to shellfish?

The Green Lipped Mussel is a crustacean. If you are allergic to seafood you should consult your doctor before taking e21 Joint Health as a supplement.

11. What causes joint pain?

In a joint, bones do not directly contact each other. They are cushioned by cartilage that lines the joints (articular cartilage), synovial membranes around the joint and a lubricating fluid inside your joints (synovial) fluid.
As you age, joint movement becomes stiffer and less flexible because the amount of lubricating fluid inside your joints decreases and the cartilage becomes thinner. Ligaments also tend to shorten and lose some flexibility,
making joints feel stiff.

12. When do joint problems start to occur?

Joint problems generally begin to manifest in the second and third decades. General medical opinion indicates that by age 40 most people will have some damage to the weight bearing joints of the ankles, knees, hips and spine. Given the multitude of uses we have for our joints, it’s in your best interest to keep them healthy.

13. How does e21 Joint Health work?

Essentially the GLM reduces the inflammation and swelling … hence the almost immediate relief of pain reduction. This allows the Glucosamine and Chondroitin to then get to work rebuilding the damaged tissues in the joint.

14. Why has e21 Joint Health only got 142.5mg of Glucosamine?

The glucosamine and chondroitin in e21 Joint Health is 100% bio-available. Other commercial products have high doses because of their low bioavailability.

15. Who will benefit from e21 Joint Health?

Anyone with joint pain resulting from damaged tissue and cartilage.

16. How many capsules do I need to take at a time?

Two (2) capsules each day for moderate cases of joint pain. People with severe pain often begin with six (6) taken two at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for two weeks and then reduce their intake gradually over 2 months.

17. Should I take it with food?

Yes. It is important to take e21 Joint Health with food.

18. Can I take too much?

It is not recommended to consume more than 6 capsules of e21 Joint Health each day.

19. When can I stop taking it?

If you have joint pain and are more than 50 years old you should continue to use e21 Joint Health as a daily supplement to reduce the pain and inflammation and to continue to support and maintain joint tissue and cartilage health.

20. How does Glucosamine aid joint health?

Glucosamine is a precursor for glycosaminoglycans, which are components of the proteoglycans in the cartilage matrix tissue. Glucosamine requires times to build up in your body and hence the need to build up to, and maintain, a regular daily dose.

21. How does Chondroitin aid joint health?

Chondroitin, like glucosamine, is a natural component of cartilage. Chondroitin is also involved in the lubrication and nutrition of the joint and helps the joint to resist compression.

22. How does Vitamin C help?

Vitamin C serves a role as a cofactor in collagen synthesis, the main protein in joint tissue and bone. Vitamin C also helps the uptake and use of Green Lipped Mussel, Glucosamine and Chondroitin.

23. Why are the B Group vitamins essential?

Vitamin B6 is useful for lessening joint pain and decreasing the amount of time needed for a muscle and joint to recover from stress. Coaches regularly recommend Vitamin B6 to their athletes who suffer from joint pain. Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid support healthy blood flow to the bones and joints. The B Group vitamins assist energy production and metabolism.

24. What is Folic Acid?

Folic acid and folate (the naturally occurring form) are forms of the watersoluble vitamin B9. Vitamin B9 is essential to numerous bodily functions ranging from nucleotide biosynthesis to the remethylation of homocysteine. The human body needs folate to synthesize DNA, repair DNA, and methylate DNA as well as to act as a cofactor in biological reactions involving folate. It
is especially important during periods of rapid cell division and growth. Children and adults both require folic acid to produce healthy red blood cells and prevent anemia. Folate and folic acid derive their names from the Latin word folium (which
means “leaf”). Leafy vegetables are a principal source. A lack of dietary folic acid leads to folate deficiency (FD). This can result in
many health problems, the most notable one being neural tube defects in developing embryos. Low levels of folate can also lead to homocysteine accumulation as a result of the impairment of one-carbon metabolism mechanism methylation.

25. What does each of the active ingredients do for me?

e21 Joint Health is a natural capsule supporting an athlete’s joints, muscles, nervous and immune system. It contains Green Lipped Mussel that works quickly to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation to allow Glucosamine and Chondroitin to support and repair damaged cartilage. It also contains Vitamin C and Vitamin E for immune function support and the B group vitamins for energy production and nervous system support.

26. Is it sugar free?

Yes.

27. Is it Gluten Free?

Yes. All active ingredients, excipients and vegetable capsules are gluten free.

28. Is it Lactose Free?

Yes. Individuals with lactose intolerance can safely take e21 Joint Health.

29. How does it compare cost wise with other products?

Delivering this unique blend of anti-inflammatory, joint repair and antioxidants separately would result in a cost many times that of e21 Joint Health.

30. What are the key points for difference between e21 Joint Health and other joint health products?

e21 Joint Health;

has no preservatives

is gluten, sugar and lactose free

is a natural form of joint pain relief

prevents deterioration of the synovial joints

provides lubrication of the synovial joints

31. Does e21 Joint Health only relieve pain?

No. e21 Joint Health firstly will quickly relieve pain but then goes to work to repair and restore health joint function.

32. Is it only for memory?

No. While e21 Joint Health has around half of the recommended daily amount of folic acid which is reported to assist memory function, its primary benefits are to reduce joint pain and swelling and repair and restore healthy joint function.

33. Is it good for the dog?

Yes. Customers have reported good results in their pets suffering from joint related pain.

34. Will e21 Joint Health interfere with my prescription medications?

e21 Joint Health may have a minor interference with diabetes medication and may interact with some chemo-therapy and anti-coagulant medications.

As with any medication, we recommend that you consult your healthcare professional for specific advice on combining e21 Joint Health with other medications.

The most common form of joint degeneration is osteoarthritis (OA). The word osteoarthritis is derived from three Greek words meaning bone, joint and inflammation. It is a progressive condition with the greater majority of people experiencing varying degrees of the disease as the aging process advances. Characterised by pain, swelling and loss of range of movement, OA is now classified as either Primary OA or Secondary OA.

Primary OA results from the wear and tear our lives thrust onto our joints with the main joints seen to be affected being in the hands, hips, knees, cervical and lumbar spine and big toe. The aging process is the most profound influence along with obesity worsening the weight bearing joints. Secondary OA has numerous causitive/influential factors including, trauma from injury, repetitive stress injury (work, sport etc), recurring acute inflammatory episodes (eg. gout) and metabolic disorders. Another definite influence that should be mentioned is that from genetic predisposition. In other words your familys’ health history.

So what is actually happening in the arthritic joint? Well the main reason why symptoms occur is because of a breakdown in the joint cartilage. Cartilage lines both sides of a joint primarily to provide a nice cushioned, low friction surface for smooth joint movement. Any of the above influences cause a breakdown in the integrity of the cartilage. The body in all its wisdom tries to compensate for the cartilage imperfections by increasing the synovial fluid in the joint and by sending minerals such as calcium to the area in an effort to both try and mend the cartilage and, by this stage, the bone itself which is receiving more trauma due to less cushioning. Unfortunately the end result is areas of abnormal hardening and growth of spurs.

When we’re younger, cartilage repair is virtually able to keep pace with the breakdown from traumatic influences. As we age, the repair process is slowed and is unable to keep up with the wear and tear thus fueling the degenerative cycle. Whilst cartilage is made up of many of the same proteins (collagen and elastin etc) that other structural parts of the body consist of, it also contains other vitally important components called protoeglycans. Apart from making these substances ourselves there are only a few select foods we can source them from (green lipped mussels are the standout food source). The synergy of all of these compounds give our cartilage its unique properties, allowing our joints to perform under the incredible pressures of day to day life.

Vitamins and minerals serve as an effective method to supplement possible dietary shortfalls.

But, how do you know whether or not your diet is perhaps a little ‘light on’ when it comes to supplying those critically important nutrients? Well the short answer is this. Unless you have taken the time to lovingly tend your own backyard organic vegetable and fruit patch, or, you have been diligently sourcing out the best quality market garden organic fruit and vegetables and eating organic nuts, seeds and grains, and you live in the same 21st century environment as the rest of us, then, you are in need of some supplementary vitamins and minerals.

According to the above description, most of us will definitely benefit from some basic supplementation with vitamins and minerals. One of the most profound influences on our need for extra vitamins and minerals is increased stress on the body. Stress can be defined as any influence on the body that evokes a physiologic response mediated by the adrenal hormones. Therefore, this includes emotional stress (work, relationship, financial etc.), anxiety, depression, chemical and exercise. Think about that for a moment. Yep, you’re right, that’s all of us. It’s really a subtle reflection of the intensity of our lifestyles!

The next question that you would normally ask is – “but which vitamins and minerals should I take?” So long as there is no dis-ease, and the main symptom that is being experienced is fatigue (as is most often the case), then the right place to start is a formula with multiple vitamins and minerals. A good formula template would include at least the ten B vitamins and minerals including calcium, chromium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, selenium and zinc. The antioxidants Beta-Carotene, Vitamin D, and Vitamin E should also be included.

You know, there are many multiple vitamins and minerals formulas on the market and the most effective is not necessarily the one that has had millions of dollars spent on promoting it. Here at Recovery e21 our recommendations are based on consumer feedback. This is always the best way of finding a supplement that is going to give you those vitamins and minerals mentioned above, and in a time proven formula with a positive outcome!

There are of course many reasons where the use of vitamins and minerals in a single form or a concise specific formula is indicated. The use of the following nutrients in simple compounds are well documented and very common:

Calcium – used for healthy bones, nails and hair.

Magnesium – used for any muscular or soft tissue problem. Cramping, pain or spasm.

Selenium – strengthens basic cellular immunity possibly preventing many 21st century degenerative diseases.

Zinc – used for strengthening immunity, healing processes and skin problems.

Vitamin D – used to prevent bone disease and many other degenerative diseases.

These are just a few single vitamins and minerals that are effective treatments for various health complaints. Of course you would always use these over and above your good basic vitamins and minerals formula.

Mother Nature, in all of her wisdom, has created the “perfectly balanced” 100% natural multi-vitamin mineral formula. It’s called Dunaliella salina and as you’ll find out once you use it – what a difference it makes!

Here at Recovery e21 we are only too pleased to assist you in your selection of appropriate vitamins and minerals for your individual needs. We all have certain demands placed on us in our day to day lifesyle and sometimes our bodies struggle to meet those demands. So give your body and mind a head start and invest in a great insurance policy – your daily vitamins and minerals provided by nature – Dunaliella salina as found exclusively in the Recovery e21 Electrolyte Balance formula.

Arthritis, also known as ‘joint inflammation’, can refer to a number of diseases and related conditions that can cause pain, stiffness, and swelling in the joints and connective tissues.

A natural health supplement like Recovery e21 Joint Health with Green Lipped Mussel can have amazing results in reducing this inflammation, and rebuilding lost tissue. It will also help to lessen the pain and create a greater range of movement.

What can have an even greater effect is the combination of this amazing natural anti-inflammatory with a well structured exercise program.

Now for most sufferers, the desire to exercise on a consistent basis is rare. The thought of putting the body through even more pain can seem more trouble than its worth. But exercise doesn’t need to be hours spent pounding the pavement running, there are many options to look at.

Low impact cardio exercise like swimming can be fantastic, light resistance work is very important for strength, but one of the most forgotten forms of exercising is stretching.

Daily stretching will help keep muscles and tendons relaxed and free, range of motion will increase, and pain will subside.

A warm up before stretching is still crucial to stimulate blood flow, this can be a short walk or even a warm shower. It is very important to ease into stretching and never over stretch.

Recovery e21 contains high levels of Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acids. These fatty acids are essential in our diet for good health. All fatty acids have different roles in our body.

It is important to have the correct balance of Essential fatty acids.

The most important fatty acids are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) andeicosatetraenoic acid (ETA).

EPA promotes healthy skin and connective tissue and has some anti-inflammatory action.

DHA is essential for brain function and the nervous system.

ETA has a potent inflammatory action.

When Kimberly Burnett was asked recently, how is the Electrolyte Balance working for you?

We couldn’t help but share with you her reply…….

‘Awesome! e21 got me from sea level to the summit of Haleakala on Maui (a 10,023 ft climb) this past Sunday! I took one EB every 30 minutes and felt incredible when I reached the top. And, I was back in the pool training hard at 6am the next morning. Working for me is an understatement!’

Fantastic effort Kim!
